Telephoto

Telephoto lens make distance objects appear closer. The photographer does not have to stand as close to the nude model using a telephoto lens. This may explain why so many nude photographers prefer using a wide angle lens to be physically close. While tight cropping or "digital" zoom will result in the same field of view, you lose quality in enlargements doing so. Small JPEGs for the internet, not so much is lost. Using the optical zoom only uses the best telephoto results. Crop on the computer if necessary.
