A '''gallery''' is a collection of images, artwork. Here at VW Wiki, any collection of images illustrating an entry can be presented in a gallery to make the page appear more uniform and neat. Captions can be written for each individual image using Wiki links as well. Remember the intent of illustrating the VW Wiki pages is not to include every image ever published at VW to the Wiki entry, but rather a small set of excellent examples. Larger galleries are useful for a general entry that may have several more specific entries - each image in the larger gallery illustrating the specific entries to be Wiki linked.

In this example gallery, each image will be shown to 300 pixels in its maximum dimension. (Yes, widths and heights are used in their plurals.) Galleries can use any size they wish. The example of 300px works for most. When just a few images are presented, larger images work well, when many images are presented, smaller images may be more appropriate.
Adding <nowiki><center></center></nowiki> around the galley sometimes makes the gallery appear neater in the entry.

Single images can use the wiki thumb or this gallery tag. If the intent is a solo image, the wiki image thumbnail is best. If the intent is to add more images at a later date, the gallery tag helps set standardize the format.

The use of tables to organize the images is also a form of setting a gallery of images; however, the table forces line breaks at each end of its rows, and the page will not always appear uniform depending on the browser window size people use. With more people using iPhones and iPads, the more flexible gallery option is recommended.
