To make a small hole in a body part for the purpose of wearing jewelry in or from the opening.  Pierced earlobes are the most common piercing.  Body parts that are becoming popular to pierce are [[belly button]]s, [[nipples]], [[pussy lips]], [[tongue]]s, [[nose]]s, eyebrows, [[lips]], [[penis]]es, [[scrotum]]s, etc.  If it's possible to pierce, then somebody has done it.

In addition to "piercing" meaning the act of making the hole, the word "piercing" can also refer to the hole itself.
