EXIF is an acronym which stands for Exchangeable Image File. Digital cameras not only record the image seen through its lens but also information pertaining to the camera that took the image, and its settings. Various operating systems and photo editing software will show some or all the EXIF information. Typically, the date and time when the image was recorded and the various camera settings. This information is always available to the original file, making the Date Stamp feature nearly useless. VW strips this information when publishing a contri, or the user might when selecting the Save for the web... option is used inside a photo editing application, such as Photoshop.
